The Dale City Volunteer Fire Department's Station 10 is Second to None
The Washington Business Journal's Green Business Design Award for 2010 goes to the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department's own Station 10. Over 150 nominations were submitted for this Award, but no one can beat the second "green" fire station constructed on the East Coast.
Station 10 was considered for its use of motion sensor lighting, energy efficient heating and cooling, recycled rainwater used for the property's irrigation, "green roofs," and the preservation of over an acre of natural habitat through an easement.
Congratulations go out to the entire Department, especially Captain Jeremy McPike and the Station 10 Design Committee.
